PROP CONCEPT ART
TAUGHT AT UCLA COMMUNITY SCHOOL AND UNIVERSITY CHARTER HIGH SCHOOL
-
This four-week unit introduces students to the fundamentals of prop concept design for games, film, and animation. Through narrative-driven prompts, students learn how everyday objects can communicate story, function, and worldbuilding. The course emphasizes research, thumbnail sketching, silhouette exploration, iteration, and presentation as students develop original prop concepts from initial ideas to polished designs. By the end of the unit, students present and pitch a collection of props that reflect both creative intent and visual storytelling.
